About us
StudyLink is a part of the Ministry of Social Development. StudyLink provides financial support to students, and connects them with the information they need to make informed financial and study decisions.
Each year, StudyLink approves approximately 300,000 Student Allowance and Student Loan applications, and pays out more than $1,000,000,000 in fees to education providers.
StudyLink delivers services for students through:
- online services including MyStudyLink, where students can view and update their details online
- the Contact Centre, which is based in Lower Hutt
- the Student Support Centre based in Palmerston North, which handles the majority of the processing work
- offices located around the country, delivering face to face services to students.
The StudyLink website is the main resource for students to get information, and to apply for financial assistance.
About the Helpline
The StudyLink Helpline is a central point of contact for education providers. This team manages all day-to-day interactions, including phone calls and the SAKBase escalation tool.
They also carry out scheduled health checks to make sure the information StudyLink has about each provider is current and handle requests for training and brochures.
Contacting us
You can keep in touch with what's happening on this website. If you need to contact us, you can find information here about using the SAKBase tool or calling the StudyLink Helpline.
Face to face assistance
Students who require more in-depth and specialised assistance with their student finance applications can be seen by appointment at MSD (Work and Income) offices throughout New Zealand.
Experienced StudyLink staff are located in those offices in the main city centres - Auckland, Hamilton, Palmerston North, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin and in some regional locations.
They also undertake public relations and informative activities in their regions such as enrolment/orientation activities, open days and expo events.
